Every newborn is different, and I never expect babies to perform for the camera. Newborn sessions are designed around baby's comfort, temperament, and what they are willing to give us that day.

Some babies love being curled into sleepy poses, while others prefer being wrapped and cozy. I work through the session based on what baby is comfortable doing while creating a variety of beautiful portraits for your final gallery.

With more than 13 years of professional photography experience and over 3,000 newborns photographed, newborn safety is always at the center of my work. I am also triple certified in Newborn Posing & Safety, and have been mentored by internationally recognized newborn photographer Ana Brandt.

See Your Newborn Images as I Photograph Them

One of my favorite parts of the Conner James Photography experience is that parents don't have to spend the entire session wondering, “Did we get the shot?”

You are able to see your baby's images on a large TV in real time as I photograph them.

It gives parents the reassurance of seeing the beautiful portraits we are creating while the session is actually happening. You can relax knowing we are capturing the images you hoped for instead of waiting until later to find out.

A Fully Stocked Newborn Studio in Glen Carbon, Illinois

You don't need to arrive with a trunk full of newborn photography props. My studio is stocked with wraps, blankets, layers, tiny outfits, hats, headbands, baskets, beds, and other newborn props that allow us to create a coordinated session specifically for your baby.

For this session, the deep olive greens paired beautifully with the warm wooden newborn bed. We also incorporated a completely different rustic setup with a little wagon and a red knit hat, creating variety while still keeping the photographs timeless.

Those tiny toes peeking out of the wrap may be one of my favorite details. 🤎

Choosing Your Favorite Newborn Portraits

After your session, you will have a proofing appointment in the studio where you can view your images and choose the photographs included with your newborn collection.

Additional images and image bundles are also available for families who fall in love with more photographs than their package includes—which happens pretty often!
